Chartered electrical engineer with over twenty five years experience on major internationally recognised projects, covering a diverse range of industries. In depth technical knowledge of electrical systems and project management skills coupled with the ability to manage teams both locally and remotely. Enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and experience and actively mentoring/ coaching team members.
Since graduating I've spent over twenty five years working in electrical engineering. I’m a UK Chartered Engineer, Registered European Engineer and a South African Professional Engineer. While occasionally I consider joining other institutes, I feel I have already joined enough and more institutes means more annual subscriptions.
While originally from the UK, my adventurous nature has seen me living in South Africa, Hong Kong, China, New Zealand and currently the United Arab Emirates. During this time I’ve been lucky enough to have worked on many prestigious international projects; my top two favourites being the design and construction of Mossgas in South Africa and Hong Kong’s International Airport.
Having resided in countries, with differing economies has given me the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of industries covering railways, airports, buildings, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power systems, mining and industrial. In addition I have been in involved in projects at all stages from concept/design, through construction to final commissioning/handover. This has enabled me to develop a really good technical and theoretical understanding, coupled with the ability to translate design in into a physical installation.
Over recent years I have been very active in the management of local and remote design teams. In addition to the technical aspects of the role, I am enthusiastic about sharing knowledge, experience and actively mentoring/couching team members. Hopefully some of this enthusiasm filters through to myElectrical.
myElectrical.com is passion [addiction] of mine; although I never intended it be such. I started myElectrical in 2002 and [on and off] have been developing the site and will no doubt continue doing so. Family life is important to me and I make special effort to ensure I have a quality of life outside of work. In between work, family and myElectrical I find time to do a lot of reading, travelling is always a good and I tend to eat out a lot more than I really should.
If you are still reading, while I’m pleased I don’t want to overdo it. If you want to find out more about me or discuss anything further, you can do this via my contact me page.
