Star Delta Starting Timer Setting

Can we calculate the timer setting for changeover from star to delta from the design-code letter of the motor?. Please give an example under a)no load b)half load c)full load conditions.

The changeover time is not a single figure and you need an understanding of the starting time to be able to set the changeover timer. It depends on the inertia of the load, the accelerating torque and other factors. For each application it is going to be different. For example the starting time for a mine shaft high inertia ventilation fan could be 30 seconds plus, whereas a fan in an air-conditioning unit would reach full speed in a fraction of this time.

Understanding the starting could be by calculation or measurements in the field.
