I've previously asked Schneider if the reflex tripping of their Masterpact circuit breakers operates independently of the protection module and was told yes. You can refer this post:
Low Voltage Circuit Breakers
If may be better if you ask them again to see if this is still the case.
For backup protection, I would also suggest you consider the next upstream breaker. I think this would give a more reliable installation.
