Relay to open a door

I would like to use an electromechanical relay to open the door of a small pigeon hole? What kind of an electromechanical relay should be used? What will its rating be?

Check an electrical components website (Maplin, Radio Spares, Farnell, etc.).  There are plenty of relays.  Choose one appropriate to the voltage you will be using to actuate it.

If you find one and want to post the details here, with a few more details on how you will be using it, someone may able to offer further advice on the suitability.
