Transformer Short Circuit Testing

Hi,

when short circuit test conduct on transformer then, dynamic and thermal shot are applied.  So my question is why dynamic shot are applied for 0.5s and thermal shot are applied for 2s.

The losses in transformers(both core loss and copper loss) produce heat. The main constructional criteria of transformer is to reduce loss ,thereby increase efficiency.

Therefore while conducting SC test for determining copper loss, thermal shot is applying for more time..
